DAY 6: A return day after six months

DAY 6: A return day after six months

Prepare in advance: a roll of wallpaper and a pen or pencil, and use colored chalk or felt-tip pens or make a wise gnome

(see photos of day 1)

Inner sources of strength

The children come back after 6 months, and we ask if they can still remember what we discussed during the previous meetings.

For example, do they still use the worry doll……………, the instructions for others how to cope with the child……………; do they have any concerns or wishes around the deceased loved one?............. Do they still need tears from the tear jar or the warmth and light of the golden sun?............ And what about their bear power!?...........

Search with the children for their inner sources of strength. Write them down, not to forget them.

.............

Examples of inner strength: self-esteem, self-confidence, love, courage, the ability to say what you want to say, also daring to say no, a sense of humor,   using of a crystal dome (so that we can let all criticism slide away), understanding, wisdom, smart, hope, don't give up, learn from this experience.

CRAFTING

Draw a child on wallpaper by lying on the floor and running a pencil along it.

Then discuss with them the feelings of sadness, anger, fear, pain and happiness. (as indicated on day 2) What feelings do you have now and did you have then?.................

Use felt-tip pens or colored pencils to indicate where in their body those feelings are located.

Then ask which event corresponds to that. ………………….

When are you sad, angry, scared, in pain or happy? Do you know what you can do to transform your bad feelings into better feelings? (Play outside, meet up with a friend, take a walk, ride your bike, buy something for yourself, play a game)

Forgiveness

We ask the children if, in those situations, they can forgive those who have made them sad, scared or angry. They can also ask those in their minds to forgive him/her if they themselves have done something that made those others angry, scared, sad……………….

You can then ask whether they can also forgive themselves for having had a very difficult time (all) for a while due to the situation that has arisen. (for example, if they have a stomach ache, they say sorry to their stomach)……………. Give them the opportunity to do this now……………….

Empowering children:

Bear power: The children were all given a bear when we first met. Have you gained more bear power in the past year?............ (For example: Did he help you go to sleep in your own bed?)…………… Ask the children if they still have the teddy bear at home……………… Do you also have other cuddly toys that give you softness and comfort when you are sad……….. To which animal can you talk to best?....................

They can also think of another strong animal, elephant, lion, leopard, hippo.

The children can use this animal as a symbol of strength, bear power! Every person has bear power, but they don't always think about the fact that they own that power.

Grounding exercise :

Do you still remember? From worry tree to tree of life? Shall we try again to be a tree, with roots deep in the ground, so that we cannot be blown over, if there is a storm in your life?

You are a tree and shoot roots from your right foot………. and then your left foot deep into the ground……………..

Then you also let roots grow from your tailbone into the earth………….

Let the roots grow………………. Around a stone in the earth.

You are then well grounded, rooted and have both feet firmly on the ground.

Try it again at home at your leisure.

This exercise is also done in martial arts such as judo, so that you do not fall over so quickly when someone pushes you.

Provide inner strength

What do you still find difficult? …………………………….

Have them say out loud in a certain situation that is difficult for the children, that they are dreading:

I can do it!

I want to do it!

I do it!

*      Write the name of the deceased in elegant characters on a large sheet of paper.

Think of a word for each character that fits the deceased and write it down, under each character.

*      Create (see day 1)or color a wise gnome (see example below)

*     Write a letter to your father / mother / brother / sister or a nice card (send to heaven attached on a helium balloon)

===========================================

We say goodbye to each other. Blow out the candles together. And wish each other much success, love, strength, wisdom for the rest of our lives.

And we thank each other for walking our life path together for a while.
